Avalanche Hazard in New Zealand
This project involves ongoing study of avalanche hazards in New Zealand
and overseas by way of involvement in the New Zealand Mountain Safety
Council Snow and Avalanche Committee and through investigations of specific
avalanche events and affected facilities such as mountain huts, skiing
operations and transport routes.
Recent emphases included historical studies of avalanche fatalities
and use of GIS for analysing avalanche terrain.
