‘My work involves preparing resource consent applications for clients. Our company is also contracted to the
Mackenzie District Council so we act as Council Planners and process their resource consents.
Geography definitely helped get me the job and the graduate 'Implementation of the RMA’ course was a major contributing factor, as the three-week project on the resource consent process is essentially what I do every day!
On more of a general level, the analytical skills I learnt throughout the geog degree are a great help in day-to-day work, especially writing environmental assessment reports. General research and survey skills have also been very useful.
